Austin Truax - Lead Vocals /Rhythm guitar - Austin writes and performs highly melodic compositions with emotionally intelligent
lyrics and catchy hooks. It is evident that his inspiration comes from within. The band Silvertip began as a solo acoustic project featuring Austin, and has grown into a solid song-oriented powerhouse. His songs and signature voice cannot be mistaken, and it both overwhelms and stirs the human emotion and soul. As a songwriter and musician Austin’s inspiration comes from his experiences and experiences of others.
In 2012 during the 37th Annual National Old Time Country Blue-grass and Folk Music Festival, Austin was distinguished with the awards of Country Singer of the year and Songwriter of the year.
Austin is member of BMI and also is part of the CMG Radio International Independent Network.
Austin started Silvertip in Montana as a cover band playing private parties and special events. About a year after he formed the band he started to write his own songs. An invitation to play at a small music festival got him started playing his own songs. Because of this he was invited to play at bigger festivals around the Country, fundraisers, private parties, and other special events, and participate in Songwriters contests.
Silvertip Recently relocated to Florida, and performs traditional country classics as well as originals in the traditional country style. Austin with his profund and unique lyrics and musical arrangements, is influenced by old country standards like Jim Reeves, Merle Haggard, Patsy Cline, Roger Miller, Faron Young, Hank Williams and many others. We believe you will enjoy singing along, dancing to or simply tapping your toes to the music we provide at your next event.
Carolyn Dunn - Bass player/Harmony Vocals - She started performing at festivals, clubs, weddings and jams since 1973 in Rochester, NY until 1988 when she moved to Burlington, VT. Carolyn moved to Sarasota, FL in 2004, and currently performs with Silvertip. She loves folk festivals and she is active in the Sarasota Folk Club. Carolyn tied for 2nd place at the 2012 Lake County Folk Festival Funny Song Contest for "Bass Playing Grandma".
Jim Dunn - Electric Guitar - Jim has been performing since high school. He's a fantastic guitar player and
sound engineer. He moved to Sarasota in 2005, and is very involved with running
sound at folk and bluegrass festivals as well as performing in rock, folk and
country bands.
